Small businesses are not only a huge part of what makes San Diego so special, but they're vital to the economic growth of our community. More than 80% of local businesses have been negatively affected by the pandemic, so we decided to try and make a difference this holiday season. Join Cal Coast in our mission and make a big impact by simply being "Local for the Holidays."
You Shop, Together We Give Back
Help us do our part in keeping the doors of local businesses open this holiday season by simply using your Cal Coast Debit or Credit Mastercard® whenever and wherever you can locally. Check those gifts off your list when making purchases in person or online.
For every purchase you make between now and the end of the year, Cal Coast will automatically donate a portion of your purchase to Strategic Alliance San Diego to support local, minority-owned businesses.1
Ideas for local purchases that will spark an automatic donation:
- Buy a gift card or certificate to a local restaurant or coffee shop
- Use your Cal Coast card when buying groceries or holiday goodies
- Consider unique gifts from local businesses:
- A good read from an independent book store
- Locally made crafts and clothes for family, friends or fur-babies
- Toys from a local toy store

Give the Gift of a Donation
It's no surprise that some non-profits have been hit the hardest as a result of COVID-19, a struggling economy and minimal donors this year. Let's come together to raise vital funds for some of these non-profit organizations. Skip on your morning coffee and put that $5 towards making a local impact.
We've selected four local non-profits (see organizations below) to raise donations for in hopes of keeping their doors open so they can continue serving the ones that need it most. As a thank you for your contribution, Cal Coast will match the first 50 donations to each non-profit, up to $1,750 per charity.2

Local Non-Profit Organizations
Jacobs and Cushman San Diego Food Bank
- Provides nutritious food to local families & individuals in need.
- Distributed 28 million pounds of food in 2019.
Monarch Schools
- Monarch Schools started as a one-room education center. Now it's a K-12 comprehensive school educating more than 23,000 homeless youth in San Diego.
Operation SafeHouse
- Provides emergency shelter, intervention & outreach services to local youth in crisis in addition to human trafficking prevention, protection & advocacy.
Cal Coast Cares Foundation
- Provides grants for teachers & scholarships for college-bound high school seniors, including a special program for foster youth.
- California Coast Credit Union will donate 0.5% of purchases made in San Diego County (zip codes 91901 – 92199) and/or Riverside County (zip codes 91752 – 92883) between 11/26/20 and 12/31/20 with a Cal Coast Debit or Credit Mastercard®, up to $20,000, to Strategic Alliance San Diego to support minority-owned businesses. The maximum donation of $20,000 is equivalent to 0.5% of $4,000,000 in Cal Coast Debit or Credit Card Mastercard® purchases.
- California Coast Credit Union will match the first 50 donations to each of the four charities featured on: give.mastercard.com/p/CalCoastCU, up to $1,750 per charity. Featured charities include: Jacobs & Cushman San Diego Food Bank, Monarch Schools, Operation Safehouse and the Cal Coast Cares Foundation.
